Description
Bayolea begins with what appears to be a classic citrus opening of mandarin, tangerine, and lemon at first glance. Except the lemon isn't actually a lemon; instead, Mr. Parrott uses lemongrass. It adds a touch of green and a touch of far eastern exoticism. Lavender and neroli are mixed with green cardamom and black pepper in the heart. I enjoy how perfumers are starting to employ spices to bring out the herbaceous aspect of good lavender. That's the case here, as the green coriander picks up the green of the lemongrass and transforms into a greener, herbal lavender that's more authentic to the actual thing. A bit of black pepper maintains it herbaceous, and neroli works as a counterpoint to keep it from going too far in that direction. The base notes are dominated by deep patchouli that is framed by cedar and musk.
